The IPF organised a brainstorming session on the Ranganath Misra Commission report, which has been a topic of controversy for its outrageous recommendation to provide reservation to new converts from Hindu religion to Islam. The current seminar deliberated upon the diverse aspects of the report and their pernicious repercussion on the Indian society. The speakers, drawn from various walks of life, were of the opinion that the implementation of this report would inevitably lead to greater social upheavals in the country. Furthermore, they also emphasized that it was a subtle attempt to promote conversion from Hindu society to Islam for getting the benefits of reservation in jobs and educational institutions.
Vijay Sonakar Shastri expressed his concern that the new reservation policy is going to harm the SCs and STs the most. The government is trying to separate Dalits from the Hindu community by creating a separate group like Dalit Muslims. Manmohan Sharma said that during Partition all upper middle class Muslims migrated to Pakistan and only lower class remained in India for political reasons. Commenting on the education of Muslims, Sharma said that in the last ten years, the Aligarh Muslim University had awarded engineering post-graduate degrees to more than 1,70,000 students, out of which one lakh left for Pakistan! Monika Arora said that the report must be opposed at political and intellectual levels. Sandhya Jain demanded a whitepaper on funds given to minorities and how they are being spent. R Balashankar felt that politicization of Muslim issue has been continuing since 1947. Amit Sharma called it a political conspiracy. Prof Rajvir Sharma said that the need of the hour is to organize Hindus once again.
